    Adele Maurine Marcum grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a city known as the 'German Athens.' She earned a bachelor's degree in Family History with an emphasis in German research from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.When writing her honors thesis, she used her German family as a case study of the German-American experience in Milwaukee.

    Adele frequently teaches classes at the Utah Valley Regional Family History Center at BYU on topics ranging from Germanic research to how to use Family search.She has also served as a consultant there for several years.

    Nineteenth century immigration history and German-American studies fascinate Adele.In the fall of 2003, she will begin her Ph.D. program in history.
