An industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in mutual fund and variable annuity marketing, Jane joined Rydex in 2004.She is charged with building Rydex's fast-growing financial intermediary business, including its broker/dealer, registered investment advisor and variable annuity channels, as well as on continuing to diversify the Firm's product line.

Background Before joining Rydex, Jane was a managing director and head of the multi-billion dollar insurance business at Putnam Investments, the one of the largest mutual fund company in the United States.Before joining Putnam, she was president of SunLife Distributors, the insurance and 401(k) business of SunLife Financial.During her tenure there, Jane presided over the launch of the SunLife multi-manager and fixed annuity product line, which achieved sales levels of $750 million by the end of its second year.Prior to that, she held top marketing and product development positions at Cypress Holding Company, a start-up formed to consolidate bank-owned mutual fund companies, and MFS Investment Management/Sun Life of Canada.

Jane is currently chairman of the National Association of Variable Annuities (NAVA).She holds a bachelor's degree from Suffolk University.

Rydex appointed Jane M. Mancini, of Sharon, as executive vice president of sales and marketing.

The negative articles about VAs have overlooked all the benefits and guarantees of VAs, said NAVA's chair, Jane Mancini, who is executive vice president of sales and marketing at Rydex Investments, Rockville, Md.

Tax deferral, for example, is a "very powerful tool."The industry needs to start shifting the focus, she contended."We need to shift it from what is unfair to what is accurate."

The industry, Mancini said, remains dedicated to supporting accurate and complete disclosure, and to accepting only investment dollars that are appropriate.As for dealing with the articles in the press, that "will only make us better and more comfortable with what we have to offer," she predicted.
