Ernest M. Malaspina, Shareholder
Ernest Malaspina is a member of the Employment Law Department.
Mr. Malaspina is also a member of the Litigation Department and currently serves as its Department Chair.
He joined Hopkins & Carley in 2000.
Mr. Malaspina advises employers on a range of employment issues including hiring, wage and hour compliance, employee discipline, dismissal, and avoidance of litigation.
Additionally, he represents employers in employment litigation sectors including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and breach of contract disputes.
Mr. Malaspina is a guest lecturer for the employment discrimination and employment law courses at Santa Clara University School of Law.
He is also a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
Mr. Malaspina earned a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at Davis.
He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1997.
He is admitted to practice in all California courts, all United States District Courts in California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining Hopkins & Carley, Mr. Malaspina worked as an associate at Whitmore, Johnson & Bolanos specializing in public sector employee discipline, litigation, and labor grievances and disputes.
Before becoming an attorney, he spent more than 15 years in private sector transportation management.
