Egyptian foreign minister Ahmet Maher said that the Organisation of the Islamic Conference recognizes only one state in Cyprus and Greek and Turkish cypriots should be represented in the Organisation under its umbrella.In statements to the Turkish Anatolia news agency, he also said that Egypt, irrespective of the failure of the referenda, supports the reunification of Cyprus, therefore efforts towards this goal, should continue.

Cem held talks with U.S. State Secretary Colin Powell, Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, Qatari Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jasim, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmet Maher and Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou regarding the Middle East problem.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmet Maher said that they respected the decision of Turkey to send soldiers to Iraq.Maher, who came to Antalya province to attend the Ministerial meeting the Mediterranean Forum (FOROMED), said that they also wanted to help Iraqi people just like Turkey.
