  Wallace Mah, chief administrator for the Town of Smithers expressed concerns about the AWOS providing false readings to pilots.AWOS is a static device that monitors the area directly above it, Mah said, and if a single cloud was lingering above the AWOS laser it may indicate a large cloud cover to the pilot when there are actually openings around it."That is one of the limitations of AWOS," Cook conceded.Mah said he's also concerned about Town staff being forced to scramble to the airport to clear snow off the runway in the event of emergency medevac flights at night in the Winter, Mah added.
