Jeffrey Maguire: Jeff is the Publisher of the Carleton Place Canadian, Almonte Gazette and The Weekender.He has been with the Runge Newspaper Group for nearly 27 years, beginning his long tenure as News Editor at Carleton Place in March of 1976.A native of Ottawa, Jeff grew up in Stittsville where his father Howard founded the Stittsville News.Interestingly, The News is now a member of the Runge group.Jeff is a graduate of South Carleton High School in Richmond and the Journalism Program at Algonquin College in Ottawa.He started his professional career as a reporter at the twice-weekly Wallaceburg News, in Southwestern Ontario, and he was at the daily St. Thomas (Ontario) Times-Journal for five years, finishing his time there as City Editor.Over the years he has served the local community in many capacities.Currently he is the Chair of the Mississippi/Tay Crime Stoppers Board in Lanark County and Vice-Chair of the Business Improvement Association in Carleton Place.He is also the Chair of the Journalism Advisory Committee at Algonquin College.Jeff and his wife Kathleen have two grown children and live in Carleton Place.His interests include photography, English football and travel, especially to the United Kingdom where he and his wife have friends and family.He can be reached by e-mail at The Canadian or The Gazette.
