    Professor Madden's primary research area concerns the economic modelling of digital and electronic networks. Within this gambit Gary's particular research fields encompass the economic impacts of disruptive technology such as 3G mobile (including analysis of spectrum assignment mode) and fixed-line broadband, network externalities, blended competition and the Internet, emerging technology forecasting, and welfare and technology-led economic growth (including digital divide issues). Madden is the author of 82 peer-reviewed publications in these fields since 1993 and has attracted over $1m to the University for this research since 1994. In particular, Gary is Chief Investigator on four ARC Discovery Project grants since 1998. He is a consultant to government and a Director of the International Telecommunications Society.     Gary MADDEN's primary research area is the economic modelling of electronic networks. Within this gambit his particular research fields encompass theoretically motivated short time-series forecasting, the economics of disruptive technologies, digital divide issues, network externalities and Internet evolution, and the welfare impact of economic growth. He is the author of 83 peer-reviewed publications in these fields since 1993. He is a consultant to government and a Member of the Board of Directors of the International Telecommunications Society.

    Gary Madden is a Professor in the Department of Economics and Director of the Communication Economics and Electronic Markets Research Centre (CEEM) at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia. His research is primarily focussed on examining empirical aspects of electronic, information and communications markets. His research funding, which supports CEEM, has come from industry, government and the Australian Research Council. Gary is Editor of the Edward Elgar series, the International Handbook of Telecommunications Economics, Volumes I-III. He is a Member of the Board of Management of the International Telecommunications Society and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Media Economics.
