    "Prematurity is the leading cause of infant mortality," said Madden, D-4 of Washington Township.He said he became active in the issue after granddaughter Kaylee-Jo, now two, was born just under 30 weeks in July 2004.

    Madden, a 27-year State Police veteran, and his wife, a career trauma nurse, where stunned by the birth and despite their training neither was experienced in dealing with pre-term babies.
