B. Jeannie Lum is an Associate Professor who teaches at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa (UHM) in the Department of Educational Foundations, College of Education (since 1993).Prior to this she taught at the University of Minnesota for 2 years.She received her Ph.D. and M.A. from UC Berkeley, School of Education in Philosophy of Education, and her B.A. from UC Irvine in Comparative Cultures.She has served as Chair of the Education Committee at the Matsunaga Institute for Peace at UHM.She represents the US as one of he Convenors of the Peace Education Commission, International Peace Research Association.She has served as the President of the Far Western Philosophy of Education Society.Some of her philosophical and interdisciplinary areas of interest and research related to her participation in GRAD include studies in intentionality, cultural identity, human development, peace and character education.
