Mr. A.K. Lum

September 21, 1998 - WESTWOOD, MA - ADE Corporation (NASDAQ:ADEX), a leading supplier of metrology and inspection systems for the wafer and computer hard disk manufacturing industries, today announced that it is naming Mr. A.K. Lum as Vice President and General Manager of ADE Semiconductor Systems' operations, including ADE Dimensional Systems (ADS), ADE Optical Systems(AOS), and ADE Software.Mr. Lum will assume his new duties as an employee of ADE Corporation on Monday, September 28, 1998.

Mr. Lum began his career in 1974 as a maintenance engineer for SEH, the world's largest supplier of silicon wafers.From 1978 to 1998, Mr. Lum held positions of increasing responsibility in the management of SEH's quality assurance and manufacturing oerations both in Malaysia as well as the United States, culminating in the design, startup and management of SEH's advanced "project 21" wafer manufacturing facility, located in Vancouver, Washington.Mr. Lum joins ADE from his most recent position as vice-president of manufacturing of Epson, in Portland Oregon.

Mr. Lum is a Senior Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.He graduated from the University Technology Malaysia in Electrical Power Engineering, and also earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration at the City Uversity, in Bellevue, Washington.
