Kurt Lueders has worked with Demarche Consulting Group for 4 years.During this time, he has worked on the following projects for the City of Seattle Department of Design, Construction and Land Use:
Mr. Lueders developed software that determines and documents the requirements at intake for building permit applications. This software allowed users to determine the "standard" intake requirements for an application, use his/her own expertise to modify the list and record all interaction with the customer for future retrieval.
Mr. Lueders performed data analysis to monitor and measure business practices. These analyses quantified the efficiency of the system, provided an historical perspective on the process, and measured improvement of the process. He created a software tracking system for post-permit applications. In addition to providing a tool to track these applications, the system acted as a "pilot" to understand the staff needs for a new software system for tracking building applications.
Mr. Lueders produced process maps of existing processes to start the permit process redesign. These maps identified the sources of process inefficiency and were the starting point for process redesign.
In an engineering capacity for TIES, Inc., Mr. Lueders performed failure analysis of solid rocket motor. The analysis involved using non-linear finite element software to determine the cause of failure of dual stage solid rocket motor. He made recommendations to fix the design flaw causing failure. He also performed product design optimization on a new blind aerospace fastener. The design was optimized to achieve maximum tensile strength while minimizing pin "bounce."
Prior to working for TIES, Inc., Mr. Lueders worked for Thiokol Space Operations on the Space Shuttle Redesigned Solid Rocket Boosters. At Thiokol, he worked in multiple capacities, including Structural Analyst, Ballistician, Design Engineer and Materials and Processing Engineer. This unique array of experiences has given him a comprehensive understanding of solid rocket motor propellant.
While working at Thiokol, Mr. Lueders earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah, emphasizing fracture mechanics and heat transfer.Prior to working at Thiokol, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
