Pete Ludé is a 25-year veteran of the media technology industry, during which time he has held senior executive positions in both global corporations and small entrepreneurial enterprises. He currently serves as Senior Vice President for Sony Electronics, Inc., based in San Jose, California. In this role, Mr. Ludé is responsible for leading engineering and business development efforts for Sony’s media and business communication groups. He is a frequent speaker and panelist on topics of digital communications systems and content distribution.From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Ludé was with iBlast, Inc. a datacasting pioneer based in Los Angeles, where Pete was the CTO and Senior VP. Immediately prior to joining iBlast, Mr. Ludé was Senior Vice President of the Sony Broadcast group, responsible for systems integration, software development and system product marketing.Pete started his career at several television stations, including two years as a cameraman and soundman for PBS affiliate KQED, where he worked on such programs as Great Chefs of San Francisco and Great Performances. In 1982, he founded an independent San Francisco-based consulting firm – Ludé Broadcasting Engineering. This 30-person firm designed and built complex television studio and post-production facilities world wide, including the Christian Science Monitor broadcast and news facilities in Boston and London. Mr. Ludé also pioneered the use of international satellite links for global live special events, such as the annual Beyond War awards ceremonies. In 1990, Ludé Broadcast Engineering was acquired by Sony to form the nucleus of their system integration business.Pete is an active member of SBE and IEEE, and has recently been elected Editorial Vice President for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He holds one patent in the area of opportunistic datacasting, and is a graduate of the College of San Mateo. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Lani, kids Helen and Kevin, and dog Remy. In his occasional spare time, Pete enjoys mycology, making home-brew Pinot Noir and playing bluegrass music.
