Jeff Lucht, newly appointed business manager for Johnson Matthey's Hydrogen Technology group, said the new unit will build on the existing strengths of U.S. expertise in the supply of high volumes of standardized products, and the U.K. leading-edge capabilities in fully customized and highly engineered products.

"The principal mission of the Hydrogen Technology group will continue to be the production and worldwide distribution of hydrogen purification equipment for use in the manufacture of compound semiconductors," Lucht said."In addition, the business will look to expand the use of its equipment in silicon semiconductor applications especially new areas, such as silicon germanium epitaxy."
Lucht added that the Hydrogen Technology group will emphasize engineering, design and worldwide service & support and that Johnson Matthey is excited and encouraged about the opportunities the merger will bring to the company in the field of hydrogen purification.
