    Ms. Lucas has worked on a wide array of projects with her firm.She worked with the National Center of Neighborhood Enterprise and served as the event coordinator for many events including the initial Weed and Seed Youth Leadership Summer Camp.As coordinator of the Summer Camp, Ms. Lucas managed all aspects of the event from site selection and curriculum development to teambuilding activities.For the National Council of Negro Women and for the National Alliance of Black School Educators, she served as the lead trainer for workshops on the No Child Left Behind law.She traveled the country to inform educators about the law and to train tutors on teaching techniques from a scientifically based curriculum.At an annual conference for the Association of Girl Scout Executive Staff, she served as a facilitator, leading sessions based on the book, Good to Great, by Jim Collins.Ms. Lucas has conducted training sessions on sustainability issues, most extensively on the topic of fundraising with the AmeriCorps VISTA program.For the Oakland Unified School District, she designed curriculum and managed logistics for a high school study-tour of Washington, D.C., which allowed students to see how the government impacts their future careers.

    Ms. Lucas enthusiastically interacts with her community.As a board member for the District of Columbia Library Foundation, she serves on its grants committee, which awards gifts to libraries to enhance their community outreach and effectiveness.At the Greater Washington Urban League's Kids Learning Center, she works as the program's coordinator and as a tutor.She equally enjoys setting the direction of program and working one-on-one with children.Ms. Lucas is also very active the Metropolitan Baptist Church.She sits on the Christian Discipleship Council, which oversees all education activities of the church.She is an organizer with the Worship Without Walls ministry, which takes church members into the community every 5th Sunday to do volunteer work.As the Vice President of the Young and Adult Usher Board, she coordinated the church's first annual retreat for all of the usher boards as the initial step in making three usher boards into one ministry.

    Ms. Lucas is a graduate of University of Houston where she received a B.S in Psychology.She is also a graduate from the Coro Foundation Fellowship program in Public Affairs.

    Through the combination of academics, work experience and teamwork with her class, Ms. Lucas sees the National Urban Fellows program as the bridge to a more vibrant future of strong leadership and positive community impact.
