Lisa Lucas, Researcher 3 and Project Director at NPC Research, has been coordinating research and evaluation projects for almost 15 years, including 10 years of involvement with program evaluation and social policy research.

Her recent work includes managing longitudinal studies of the costs and impacts of programs designed as alternatives to incarceration for individuals with substance use issues at adult and juvenile drug treatment court programs in the state of Maryland. In addition, she is directing evaluations of an adult drug court and a juvenile program in Michigan and an adult drug court in Vermont. She has contributed to evaluation studies of similar programs in California, Oregon, and Minnesota through both state and National Institute of Justice funding. Her experience includes managing quantitative data, designing data collection methods for both administrative data and community interviewing, supervising staff, creating data storage systems, conducting data analyses and drafting reports.

Ms. Lucas earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Education in 1993, with minors in Women's Studies and Psychology. As part of her commitment to the participants in the programs NPC Research studies, she began assisting with meditation groups for individuals housed in the Multnomah County Detention Center in 2008. In addition, she completed a domestic violence advocate training for volunteers in 2006. She has been with NPC Research since 1998, with a hiatus to travel internationally and assist the Multnomah County Domestic Violence Coordinator's Office as they undertook a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded research endeavor to study the effectiveness of a housing intervention for female survivors of intimate partner violence.
