, Dr. Shahira Loza
Dr. Shahira Loza is a practicing Consultant in Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine.
She is the Founder and Director of the first specialized sleep center in Egypt.
Born and raised in Cairo, Dr. Loza received her secondary school degree from the Lycee Francais in Maadi, and a Bachelors degree in Medicine form Cairo University Medical School "El Kasr Al Aini" graduating with honors in 1979.
In 1992 she was granted a Diploma in Psychiatry and Neurology from El Kasr Al Aini hospital and later on trained in Sleep Medicine in the U.S.A. she is currently a Fellow of the Cleveland Clinic and the Stanford School of Sleep Medicine and Board certified in France (Montpellier).
Dr. Loza is also an owner and member of the Board of Directors of the Behman Hospital and is the Director of the Rehabilitation program for children and adults with special needs.
Besides her professional medical activities, Dr. Loza is the Chairman of Board of Directors of Aghsan El Karma, a rehabilitation center for children with special needs, affiliated to the Maadi Coptic Benevolence Society.
She is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Institute of Cultural Affairs, for social and cultural development in urban and rural areas, and a past Member of the Maadi Rotary Club.
Furthermore, Dr. Loza frequently lectures in national and international medical meetings, and has participated in several media programs on a variety of topics, ranging from Psychiatry, Sleep Medicine, Learning Disabilities and Breast cancer; in addition to publishing numerous articles in the field of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Loza comes from a family of physicians; wife of Consultant Internist Dr. Sherif Doss and a mother of three physicians, graduates of El Kasr El Aini.
