"I think it is fantastic how we've drawn these faith communities together, and I just want to gather more," said Julie Lowe, board vice president. TIS' new board of directors were also announced at the meeting. Members are: Evelyn Sedlack, president; Julie Lowe, vice president; Kim White, treasurer; Lisa Menditch, secretary; and board members Gail Makovsky, Pamela McCloud and Gail Benjamin.

Julie Lowe (mentor) returns to JAM for her second year.She is currently the Stone Fellow at PANIM.Originally from Savannah, Georgia, she graduated from the University of Maryland where she majored in Neurobiology and Physiology.Julie served as the Executive Vice President for the Jewish Student Union at Maryland, on the Hillel board of directors, and as the Senior Class gift chair for the University.Julie was a participant on the Hillel Tzedek Leadership Mission to Israel where she helped to rebuild underprivileged communities throughout Israel.After her Fellowship at PANIM, Julie will attend dental school at the University of Maryland.

PANIM Stone Fellow Julie Lowe, who led the seminar with with PANIM Director of Education Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block, has been leading an egalitarian junior minyan since the start of the school year.

Julie became interested in working for PANIM because she had been in “the Jewish community in college and wanted to work in Jewish education,” she said.

“I wanted the experience where I could be exposed to Jewish educators who could teach me in ways that I’ve never been exposed to,” she said.

Lowe said that “being at JDS definitely helped me work on the seminar because there were a lot of familiar faces and a lot of people who I interact with on a daily basis.”
