  He is currently an Associate Professor, Principal Fellow in the Faculty of Education, Melbourne University (2002- 2006).
  
  In 1999, the Australian College of Education awarded him the Sir James Darling Medal for outstanding contribution to education in Victoria.
  
  In 2002, he was awarded the Centenary Medal 'for outstanding services to education' by the Governor-General of Australia.

  David was educated at Sydney University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in General Science, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Masters of Education. David has also undertaken courses at Harvard, USA (Strategic Human Resource Management), (Strategic Human Resource Management), Ashridge, UK (Strategic Management), Tavistock, UK (Authority, Leadership and Organisation) and Bond, Australia (Mediation) David Loader is renowned for his leadership in using technology in educational environments and was at the forefront of introducing notebook programs in Melbourne schools such as MLC and Wesley College.His experience includes over 30 years as a School Principal. David writes a regular column in the Journal 'Teacher', is the author of 'The Inner Principal' published in 1997 by Falmer Press, London.This book gives a psychoanalytical perspective on school leadership.David is currently writing his second book, New Generation Schooling and is an active Board Member of Swinburne University and Independent Colleges of Australia.
  
  In addition to writing, David works part time as an educational consultant, mentor, speaker, and conference convenor.David has convened the last three LT Education Conferences in Victoria and will be convening his second LT conference in Sydney conference on Oct 12th & 13th, 2006.
