Christine Lo was born in 1973 and read English and Linguistics at the University of York.After completing a Master's degree in Comparative Literature at the School of Oriental and African Studies, she worked as an editor at Weidenfeld & Nicolson and for the literary agency Toby Eady Associates before moving to Germany for a few years, where she worked as a translator.
She is now an editor at Hachette Children's Books in London.Under her previous name, Christine Slenczka, she translated the novel Eagles and Angels by Juli Zeh for Granta Books (2003).
She is one of the judges for this year's Schlegel-Tieck Prize for German Translation sponsored by the Society of Authors, the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Goethe Institute.
