Mari Linnman, the director and owner of The Art Farm, a summer camp in Bridgehampton, decided to try surfing 3 summers ago.She found herself being the only one among the group of 7-10 year olds that could not do it.She made it a goal to get the hang of it and in November 2005 she went down to Nosara Beach in Costa Rica, a well-known destination among surfers where the break is great for both beginners as well as advanced surfers.She has since been back 5 times and can proudly say that she now surfs!She has a great relationship with the surf school there and both her and her 7 yr old son have taken many lessons from them and has therefore chosen them for this trip.

Mari's children was founded by The Art Farm's director Mari Linnman in 2005.

In addition, there is The Art Farm in the City that Mari and her NYC partner Valentina opened in 2000.They added a Mommy and Me Program created after Mari had her son, Jordan.She felt the need to share the experience of fun programs with her son.

Mari Linnman, founder of The Art Farm grew up in the Swedish countryside and after moving to the states discovered the need for American children to experience the farm atmosphere. This realization materialized into a desire to create a summer day camp where children could learn to care for animals and respect the farm culture in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.

Nine years ago, Mari started her first eight week summer camp program for children age four to ten and three children enrolled.
