    Matthew L. Lifflander, is a partner in the law firm of RubinBaum LLP.In his corporate and business practice, Mr. Lifflander drafts complex employment, non-competition and confidentiality agreements and resolves disputes arising from such contracts.Mr. Lifflander has regularly represented clients in the printing and packaging, transportation, housing, hotel and insurance industries in collective bargaining negotiations, grievance procedures, and arbitrations.He has been active in investigating and advising clients on avoiding claims under various federal, state, and city statutes involving sexual harassment, age discrimination, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, through development of appropriate corporate policies, manuals, and management training.Mr. Lifflander's experience encompasses representing employers before the EEOC, and New York State and City Human Rights Commissions.He has extensive experience successfully defending corporate clients against discrimination claims by employees in litigation.Mr. Lifflander has also appeared before the NLRB in various labor/management disputes arising out of collective bargaining agreements.While ordinarily representing the management side in employment matters, Mr. Lifflander has also represented securities industry executives in disputes before arbitration panels.

    As former General Counsel to Co-Op City, the world's largest cooperative apartment complex consisting of 15,000 apartments for eight years, Mr. Lifflander regularly negotiated all the collective bargaining agreements with the three different unions representing the employees at Co-Op City, including building services workers, office workers, private policemen (security), etc., and he handled the various grievance procedures arising out of each of their contracts.

    At The Hertz Corporation during his early career, Mr. Lifflander represented Hertz Rent-A-Car in labor relations matters, including recognition elections, collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, and labor arbitrations.

    Mr. Lifflander's interest in labor and employment law started while studying law at Cornell, where he took joint courses in labor law and arbitration at Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations.He continued his interest in labor law as Assistant Counsel to New York Governor Averell Harriman, working with the State Department of Labor developing the Governor's labor legislation program and reviewing all legislation affecting the State's labor laws.

    Mr. Lifflander is a graduate of the Cornell Law School and New York University.
