Mrs. Leyk died Tuesday , Dec. 26 , 2000 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 18 , 1944 to Alfred and Luella ( Tesch ) Schlaak in Waseca.She was a graduate of Concordia College in St. Paul with a degree in elementary education.She then taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Sauk Rapids.She married Kenneth Leyk Aug. 6 , 1966 in New Richland.The couple resided in Sauk Rapids and moved to Grey Eagle in 1976.She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church , Ladies' Guild and church choir , Grey Eagle Community Choir and a committee member for Swanville School's Dollars for Scholars chapter.She enjoyed making Christmas cookies and looking after her children and grandchildren , especially watching them participate in athletic events.

She was preceded in death by her parents ; brother , Kenneth Schlaak ; and infant sister , LuAnn.

Survivors include her husband , Kenneth Leyk of Grey Eagle ; five children , Curtis ( Patricia ) Leyk of Albany , Jeffrey ( Beverly ) Leyk of Burtrum , Lori Leyk of Grey Eagle , Kevin Leyk of Bloomington and Lisa Leyk of Waite Park ; two brothers , Harlan ( Carol ) Schlaak and Lyle ( Diane ) Schlaak of New Richland ; and five grandchildren.
