Holly- Abby Lewandowski, 11, a student at Karl Richter Campus School, has been accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum.

Abby will join a select group of students in Washington, D.C., from Sept. 24-30, to earn high school credit while studying leadership and exploring some of the United States' most prominent monuments and institutions.

Abby just finished the fifth grade at Patterson and is excited about the trip.She loves school and has an insatiable appetite for learning.
When asked what her favorite subject was, she said, "All of them, I just love to learn."
She was the captain of the safety squad, a member of student council, member of the yearbook committee and was chosen as this year's Optimist of the Year from Patterson Elementary School.
Last year, Abby helped to make a difference in the community by writing a letter, collecting signatures for a petition and making a request to the Oakland County Road Commission to post Wildlife Crossing signs at various areas in Holly because she was distressed by the number of crushed turtles.As a result, two additional signs were posted on Evans Road.
Abby loves to read and play soccer and basketball.She is working diligently to earn money for the September journey.She has been saving her birthday and Christmas money, collecting cans and doing chores.
She is holding a garage sale to benefit the cause on Thursday, June 21 and Friday June 22 at 3193 Quick Road, in Holly, just west of North Holly Road, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
