The players spoke of their time at SFA playing for John Levra, a tough-nosed, cigar-clenching head coach who recently retired from a long, successful career as an assistant in the NFL.
The room where the tribute was held was full of laughter and good times, from start to finish.
"It was a great time," Levra said.

Levra said SFA turned back the threat, won the game and went on to the memorable season that concluded in Gainsville, Ga., at the Poultry Bowl.
"We had hard-nosed football players," Levra said.

Players at the tribute said Levra was a special leader , one who never forgot a player's name.
"I will come anywhere for this guy," Ike Hayes said of Levra.

The next day, at the airport, Coach Levra had a trophy that was his size.
