TEXT: Riding in a big old Cadillac, just like the one his 100-year-old grandfather used to drive when he sold hats and ties throughout the South, documentary filmmaker Brian Bain, a third-generation Southern Jew from New Orleans, takes a high-spirited Jewish road trip that turns into a rite of passage.
In search of his cultural roots, Brian travels 4,200 miles through Delta flatlands, coastal low country, mountain passes, small towns, suburban subdivisions, and sprawling Sunbelt metropolises.
Along the way he encounters Jewish people and places: an African-American Jewish police chief; the town that once claimed to be the "Catskills of the South"; a Golden Gloves boxer; a former congressman; and many more.
