Steve Levitas joined Colliers B&K in 2005 and has over 10 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. He works within the Office Advisors Group and specializes in advising commercial users of real estate in the acquisition and disposition of leased and owned real estate.

Mr. Levitas began his career in real estate in 1998 with The John Buck Company's Strategic Advisory Group where he developed an extensive understanding of developer pro-forma construction and financing models, which he uses as a benefit in executing real estate transactions on behalf of his clients. Mr. Levitas' professional accomplishments include winning the 2005 NAIOP "Office Transaction of the Year" award, being selected as a 2006 CRA "Chicago Office Broker of the Year Finalist" and being named a 2006 Co-Star "Power Broker".

Mr. Levitas focuses on all aspects of real estate advisory work for his clients including corporate services, tenant representation, RE strategy development and implementation, site selection, financial analysis and modeling, deal negotiation, construction project management, and tax and operating expense audits. He also has particular expertise in build-to-suit office, industrial and data center facilities. He has competed over 3.6 million SF of real estate transactions to date valued in excess of $2.0 billion.

Mr. Levitas' academic accomplishments include a BS degree in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado in 1990. Mr. Levitas is a member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Chicago and The Entrepreneurship Institute and a supporter of Children's Memorial Hospital and the Erikson Institute. He is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the State of Illinois.

"With the financial services tenants, particularly the banks impacted by the subprime meltdown, we would expect there'd be some space coming on the market as a result of layoffs," says Steve Levitas, a senior vice-president at CBK.

Fears of a recession heightened earlier this month when the U.S. Labor Department reported that the nation lost 17,000 jobs in January, the first such decline since August 2003.

Despite national labor woes, the strong momentum of Chicago's downtown office market is likely to carry over into this year, Mr. Levitas says.

And Steve Levitas of Colliers Bennett Kahwelier represented Quebecor.

The firm, which currently has 8,029 square feet on the 16th floor, will move to the 28th floor in the building, owned by Hines Interests L.P. Water Street signed an eight-year lease that expires in late 2016, according to Steve Levitas of Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler Inc., who represented the firm, which manages investments worth more than $1 billion.

Bob Chodos and Steve Levitas of Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler represented the lessee in the transaction.

Steve Levitas joined The John Buck Company in 1998 as an Associate with the firm's Strategic Advisory Group.Steve was promoted to Vice President in 2002.

Steve assists in all stages of various lease transactions pursued by the Strategic Advisory Division, including preparing financial analyses of potential lease transactions and analyzing alternative financial structures to minimize occupancy costs and risk for JBC clients.

Steve also conducts market research studies and tracks leasing activity in active JBC markets as well as prepares proposals for potential Strategic Advisory Group clients.

Steve has participated on several build-to-suit projects involving site selection, incentive negotiating, construction budgeting and project management.Steve also specializes in projects involving data centers, call/disaster recovery centers, switch sites, network operation centers and other mission critical facilities.

Steve graduated in 1990 with a BS degree in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado.
