Michael Levitas, pediatrician at the Children's Medical Group, nominated Rhodes and Tompkins for the honor.

"I think that they (the academy) thought it was the pediatricians that were doing this and I said, 'No, actually, it's the dentists,' " he said.

Dr. Michael Levitas , a local pediatrician , said even with the best of intentions , it's difficult for people to take a pill every day.

It is foolish for the community to ignore this public health revolution , '' Levitas said.It's foolish to withhold it from our children and adults.''.

Wally Finster , county environmental health director , talked about those saying fluoride is a toxic poison.

The literature is getting tired ; it's getting old , '' he said.It's like a broken record.''.
