  Elliot Levitas, who happened to be Jewish. Levitas was a great congressman and I had once been friends with his daughter.

  I was taken aback, as well, by Roberts's sarcastic response in 1983 to the suggestion by Congressman Elliot Levitas that there be a "conference on power sharing."According to the Washington Post, Roberts wrote in a memo: "There already has, of course, been a 'Conference on Power Sharing,' It took place in Philadelphia's Constitution Hall in 1787, and someone should tell Levitas about it and the 'report' it issued."
