Leatherman Named Racing Secretary at Retama Park

James Leatherman has been named racing secretary at Retama Park.He replaces Larry Craft and Mike Shamburg, who resigned as the track's Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse racing secretaries, respectively.Both have taken year-round posts with Magna Entertainment Corp.

Leatherman, 32, has been employed at Retama since the track opened in 1995.He has been assistant racing secretary for the past three years.

"We're excited about the number of top trainers who've committed to stall horses in our barn area," said James Leatherman, Retama's first-year racing secretary.
