Partners John C. Whaley and Julie H. VII. Judith Glickman introduced Julie LeVay, of Whaley-LeVay, who is conducting the school's development/communications audit.

Ms. LeVay gave an overview of her audit to date and stated a complete report will be submitted to the school October 31.

Ms. LeVay stated her goal was to examine the development staff, public relations, solicitation programs, development systems-fund raising, and volunteer roles.She stated she conducted confidential interviews with staff, administrators, public relations, communications, and volunteers to determine what is working and what isn't.

Ms. LeVay had three initial findings from her interviews:

1. The school is a child-centered place; more that just academics.

2. A case for philanthropy has not been made very strongly for Country Day.

- There is not a long tradition of giving.

Julie LeVay brings to clients more than 20 years of consulting and institutional development experience.Julie was formerly a senior associate of Bentz Whaley Flessner where she served a variety of clients.Her particular areas of expertise include campaign planning and strategy development, institutional audits and training, integration of advancement objectives into the institutional planning process, and annual fund and campaign management.

Prior to her consulting career, Julie served The Claremont Colleges where she directed a succesful capital campaign.Julie has also served as the chief development officer for San Francisco Opera, and has held development positions with the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Cate School.

Julie is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara and Marlborough School.She is a frequent speaker and has made presentations for CASE, NSFRE, AHP and the Foundation for Independent Higher Education.

Founding partners John Whaley and Julie LeVay are closely involved with each client, providing most, if not all, of the service.
