  Dr Eliot Lazar, vice president and chief medical officer of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, explained that the system's goal is to continue to promote the importance of maintaining high-quality patient care throughout the NYP System.Each year, the Quality Healthcare Service Award recognizes a system member institution for its outstanding efforts that led to the successful development and implementation of initiatives resulting in improvement of the quality of patient care and outcomes.
  
  Dr Lazar cited the two New Milford Hospital initiatives submitted this year: the Rapid Response Team (RRT) and the Fall Prevention program.RRTs are interdisciplinary groups of health care professionals who are alerted at the first sign that a hospitalized patient is experiencing an acute deterioration in his or her status.
