    Peter Lane is President of Applied Fabric Technologies, Inc. He has been in the oil spill industry since 1969, when he started with the company that became Slickbar Inc. After several years at Slickbar, he joined Texaco Inc and was assigned to a variety of field engineering positions, finally specializing in underground storage tank lead remediation work, and terminal and marketing operations. In 1979, he took over a division of Albany International Inc, a large, multi-national industrial textile producer who had purchased Oil Spill Containment Corp. Over a 9-year period and a variety of name changes, it became the specialty products division of Globe International. From that division, Applied Fabrics was formed.

    Applied Fabrics today offers a full range of oil spill control products and also has a division specializing in high temperature industrial textiles and conveyor belting. Lane holds a BA from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport, Conn. He is presently Chairman of ASTM committee F-20 on Oil Spills and Hazardous Materials. He holds several patents on boom designs and trash collection devices.
