DENIS LANDRY April 16, 1948 - September 13, 2008
With profound sorrow, the family of Denis Landry announces his passing on Saturday, September 13, 2008, in Ottawa at age 60.
The Ontario Track and Field Association is truly grateful for all of the contributions that Denis Landry has made to the sport of track and field.In particular, Denis served as the OTFA President beginning in 1979 and remained an active board member in various capacities including Vice-President until 2007.Denis' passion and commitment to physical education and athletics has been evident throughout his life.He spent 35 years as an educator, coach, official and administrator at all levels of athletics from elementary school to university, from local to international levels.As the Head coach of the University of Ottawa Gee Gees Men's Cross Country Team, he led the team to 3 Ontario and 3 National championships.Denis won Coach of the Year honours in 1987 and 1990.He was the Chef de Mission for the Canadian Junior Track & Field Team at the Pan American Championships in Venezuela in 1982 and a team coach for the Athletics Canada Team at the Francophone Games in Paris, France, in 1994.
