    Denis Landry - Denis' passion and commitment to physical education and athletics has been evident throughout his life. He spent 35 years as an educator, coach, official and administrator at all levels of athletics from elementary school to university, from local to international levels and loved every moment of it. He was always organizing cross country meets or track meets for thousands of athletes for over 25 years.

    As the Head coach of the University of Ottawa Gee Gees Men's Cross Country Team, he led the team to 3 Ontario and 3 National championships. Denis won Coach of the Year honours in 1987 and 1990. He was the Chef de Mission for the Canadian Junior Track & Field Team at the Pan American Championships in Venezuela in 1982 and a team coach for the Athletics Canada Team at the Francophone Games in Paris, France, in 1994. He is a past executive member, vice-president and president of the Ontario Track & Field Association and also spend 10 years as a Board Member for the Canadian Institute of Child Health.

    During his 5 years spend as the Manager of Coaching Development and Coordinator of Coaching Certification, Denis attended the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Denis was always very patient with the students he taught and coached, looking beyond the winning and losing, to what is best for this student or athlete. Canada, North Bay and Ottawa have benefited from the always sincere efforts of Denis Landry.

    DENIS LANDRY April 16, 1948 - September 13, 2008

    With profound sorrow, the family of Denis Landry announces his passing on Saturday, September 13, 2008, in Ottawa at age 60.
