Some might cover wind damage, some might exclude flooding and others may compensate for civil actions--potentially including mandatory evacuations.

   Scott Landry elected President of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Federal Bar Association
   
   In December 2003, Scott Landry, an attorney in Chaffe McCall's labor section in our Baton Rouge office, was elected President of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and will serve a one year term. Scott has been an officer of the chapter for the past two years serving as President-Elect for the previous year and Treasurer for the year before that. Congratulations Scott!

   Mr. Landry was born in New Orleans in 1963. He graduated cum laude from Nicholls State University in 1985, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. In 1988, Mr. Landry received a Juris Doctorate degree from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center. While in college, he was inducted into the Nicholls State University Hall of Fame. While in law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Labor Law and was a Finalist in the Flory Trial Competition.
   
   Mr. Landry's practice involves primarily employment law and employment-related litigation. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Committee on Employee Benefits, Section of Labor and Employment Law), the Louisiana State Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law Section), the Baton Rouge Bar Association (Continuing Legal Education Committee), the ABA Regional Committee for Liaison with the EEOC and OFCCP, the Louisiana Society for Human Resource Management, the Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management, the Pelican Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. (Legislative & Legal Rights Committee), and the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (Employee Relations Council).
   
   Mr. Landry is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants.
   
   Mr. Landry is the author of: "Job Reference Information: New Law Protects Employers," The Law Journal (1995). He is a co-author of: "Walking the Fine Line on Employee Job Reference Information: New Law Provides Statutory Immunity to Encourage Disclosure by Former Employers," 43 Louisiana Bar Journal 457 (1996). Mr. Landry is also a contributing author of: The Fair Labor Standards Act, which is to be published by the American Bar Association's Section of Labor and Employment Law and BNA Books.
