Being a music teacher at Gorton, George Landrie said, "We have terrible instruments and terrible facilities, but what we do in the classroom is remarkable."
Landrie said his number one concern in education has always been the funding of education.
"We're a state without a funding formula and where school committees can sue the towns to balance their budgets," he said. "I'm outraged at the crowd here tonight. I'd have brought my whole faculty with me if I knew there would be this many seats open. Bring some people with you to the next meeting and show up next Tuesday when they vote on this."
Landrie said 94 percent of the city stays home when it comes time for the primaries to vote people into office.
