James M. Landers , 77 , of Evansville , died Wednesday , March 7 , 2001 , at Brentwood Rehabilitation Center of complication of Alzheimer's disease

He was a graduate of Kentucky State College and received his master's degree from Indiana University.
He was a life member of St. John's United Methodist Church and superintendent of the Sunday school.
He was director of Carver Community Center for 30 years , past president of Human Relations Commission , past president of the City Council and North Side Kiwanis.He was a Kentucky Colonel , Sagamore of the Wabash and member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
He was a 33 rd-degree Mason , past imperial deputy of Desert AEAONMS and the Oasis CAWTHAR Temple , grand inspector general of the 33rd-degree of the United Supreme Council of Prince Hall Affiliated , past Overseer of the Valley of Evansville , former president of the commanders of the Rite of the 33rd Masons , and past grand master of the Masons , jurisdiction of Indiana.
