GRENADA - John Caldwell Lake, 99, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Grenada Lake Medical Center.He was born Dec. 6, 1903, in Wake Forest, N.C.He received a B.A. degree from Wake Forest College and a B.S. degree in textile engineering from Clemson University.He was considered a pioneer in the use of nylon in the manufacturing of ladies hosiery.He began his career in textiles with National Finishing Co. in Rhode Island, then joined E.I. Dupont in 1930.In 1945 he moved to Grenada to serve as president and general manager of Grenada Industries, which manufactured ladies hosiery.He was the retired president of Grenada Industries and founding president of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association.He was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada.
