Mr. A. Paul Labbe

The Saskatchewan Research Council has hired Paul Labbé as VP of mining and minerals. Labbé brings 30 years of solid business experience to SRC, most recently as VP of manufacturing for VCom Inc.

Paul has 30 years of solid business experience.He has held progressively more responsible positions in manufacturing, operations management, project management, engineering consulting, business consulting, international construction, mining and mineral processing.He joined VCom Inc. in 2000 as the Vice President of Manufacturing where he directs all aspects of the production, production engineering, procurement, inventory control, manufacturing quality and manufacturing administration / planning efforts.

His formal education and training includes an MBA; B.Sc. in Engineering Management; Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology; and CMA training at the University of Saskatchewan.He has patents and published papers in automation and materials handling.Paul is Chapter Chairman of SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers), 1st Vice President of SATA (Saskatchewan Advanced Technology Association), and is a member of: ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers); SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers); SASTT (Saskatchewan Applied Sciences Technologists and Technicians Association), where he is recognized as an A.Sc.T.Mr. Labbe' is a past Director of SASTT; a past Director of other Saskatoon high tech businesses; a past Director of ATTC (Advance Technology Training Center), and the first Chairman of the Accreditation Board for Saskatchewan Technology Programs.He currently sits on The Program Advisory Board for the SIAST Mechanical Engineering Technology Program.

Prior to joining VCom, Paul helped to grow and develop companies and projects across Canada, in the USA, Europe and Asia.He has had responsible positions on projects up to $480m USD, and with companies having up to $4 B/a in sales and 16,000 employees.
