Dr. Kumar received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at PT B.D.S. Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak, India. He is a 2008 graduate of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program. Prior to starting his three-year residency, he worked as a clinical observer in New Jersey and New York.

Dr. Kumar is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Association of Family Physicians, and the Medical Society of the State of New York. He is also a member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and is an associate member of The Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society.

Dr. Kumar was born in India and resides in New Hartford, with his wife, Kashmir Kaur.
