   Professor Earl R. and Marilyn Ann Kruschke have loved piano music nearly all their lives, and have a piano in their Chico home.

   "We love classical music and believe it should be a very important part of our culture," said Kruschke, a retired professor emeritus of political science at Chico State.
   
   "Rebuilding the 1921 piano will bring pleasure to many during the coming years," added his wife.

   "I'm a student of Steinway," said Kruschke of the elegant pianos. "They are called nine-foot pianos, but each one is just slightly shorter. They are not exactly nine feet long. It's a unique thing about Steinways."
   
   Kruschke, fondly known as "Dr. K" at the university, was on the faculty for 30 years and received numerous awards. He also is the author of eight books with a ninth under way, is an internationally recognized authority on gun control and the Second Amendment, and has had a 10-year affiliation with the North Atlantic Alliance, the political arm of NATO.
   
   Marilyn Kruschke is retired from 30 years as an administrative assistant with the Chico Unified School District. She is an active member of the North State Symphony Guild and has had a major role in fund-raising for the symphony orchestra. The Kruschkes also have given financial support to the guild.
   
   The Kruschkes, who have been married 48 years, have traveled extensively, having visited more than 60 countries.
