Cathy Erickson Krupa
Cathy Erickson Krupa has expertise in commercial vehicle operations (CVO), intelligent transportation systems (ITS), freight transportation, and program management.Ms. Krupa has worked extensively with states and industry to implement CVO programs and is skilled in mobilizing support for ITS/CVO initiatives.She has supported a number of states in the planning and deployment of their CVO programs.Recently, she completed the ITS/CVO Strategic Training Plan for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to address the training and instruction needs of state, federal, and industry professionals involved in ITS/CVO.Ms. Krupa is experienced in helping states meet both the technical and institutional challenges associated with the deployment of the Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN).She uses her organizational skills to forge consensus and buy-in among diverse stakeholders and has hands-on understanding of the CVISN architecture, design, and supporting technology.
Ms. Krupa has provided guidance to Wisconsin, New Jersey, South Dakota, and North Dakota as these states plan and deploy CVISN.As their CVISN State Advisor, she works with each state's team members in strategy sessions to prepare them for CVISN deployment workshops, and facilitates their workshop participation to help ensure that workshop products are completed successfully.Ms. Krupa works with the State to tailor the CVISN architecture to capture new business processes and helps the team reach agreement on requirements, system design, and networking solutions.
Ms. Krupa is the Project Manager for the detailed design and development of two key components of Michigan's CVISN program, electronic credentialing, and safety information exchange.She also was the Project Manager of the Michigan ITS/CVO Strategic Business Plan project.Ms. Krupa was the Project Manager for the development of the CVISN Business Plan and the Commercial Vehicle Information Exchange Window (CVIEW) System Plan for the state of Florida.She worked with an interagency, public-private task team in defining projects for deployment of the CVISN architecture.Her other CVO work includes technical support to the Minnesota CVISN design and deployment; project management of the South Dakota, New Mexico, and Minnesota ITS/CVO Business Plans and the Maine Integrated Freight Plan; and delivering ITS/CVO technical training to state, federal, and industry stakeholders across the country.
Ms. Krupa participated in a doctoral program through the University of Minnesota, and received a Master's degree in Geography from Louisiana State University, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
