   Darlene Kronschnabel has been helping cooks please palates for more than twenty years through newspaper and magazine columns, articles and an extensive collection of cookbooks for such respected publishers as Better Homes and Gardens, Ideals and Reiman Publications. Specializing in country style cooking, she has edited a number of books, including the Spice and Herb Cookbook published by Ideals. Darlene is also a writing instructor for the School of the Arts at Rhinelander. sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has taught food writing workshops through the University system since 1983. Some of her most popular workshops and courses have included "Food Features and Cookbook Writing," "Finding the Ingredients For Success," "Writing About Food and Nutrition," " Eating Words," and "Ingredients for Successful Food Writing."

   TATER TALK: Darlene Kronschnabel, author of "For the Love of Potatoes! Comfort Cooking with an American Favorite," will discuss her book at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Borders, 4030 Commonwealth Ave.
   
   Kronschnabel offers dozens of ways to enjoy the potato in her easy-to-follow cookbook, including in soups, salads, side dishes, casseroles, main dishes, breads and desserts.
   
   During her free presentation, she will share cooking tips and samples of Chilled Potato and Beet Soup and Coconut Potato Candy Bites.
   
   Kronschnabel, of Madison, is a freelance writer and a writing instructor for the School of the Arts at Rhinelander, which is sponsored by UW-Madison. She has taught food writing workshops through the UW system since 1983 and previously taught writing at Indianhead Technical Institute in New Richmond.
