Losing point guard Alisa Kresge to graduation after last season, the Red Foxes saw Flores assume the reins this season, with freshman Élise Caron waiting in the wings.

In Kresge, Marist not only lost its floor leader -if not smartest passer -but the Red Foxes also bid adieu to the three-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
"Alisa and I pushed each other for three years, because we'd have to cover each other in practice," Flores said.

"It helped me, personally, to work on my break-down ability, to work on creating my own shot," Flores said of playing alongside Kresge, "and also, I learned from her.

Kresge works for the league
Ironically, Kresge is now the MAAC's director of women's basketball operations, and was courtside when the Red Foxes (31-2 overall) won their third straight conference tournament last weekend.
Kresge, like everyone else, also witnessed the future of the Marist program, including Flores' heir apparent, Caron.

The seemingly seamless transition from Kresge to Flores to Caron, head coach Brian Giorgis said, actually began with Kresge's predecessor, Nina Vecchio.
