Ali Kresge, marketing manager of American Cancer Society's Oakland office, said the society's staff regularly helps Springmann find people with unique cancer-related stories for the show.
"They truly are stories put together with real heart," Kresge said."In-depth coverage of stories that we don't hear that much about but are impacting millions of people."
Springmann's career change from photographer to writer/producer evolved circuitously, when he was still taking portraits of business leaders for corporate annual reports and national business magazines.
"I became very intrigued by leadership issues," he said."How an individual could shape a vision and then enroll individuals enthusiastically and willingly and often lovingly in that position and create a belief that by following their leadership that everyone would benefit."
The successful people he photographed were not only "drivers," they were part of a much larger team.Having always worked by himself, for himself, he realized that approach no longer fit him.
