SASKATOON, Sask. - Huskie Athletics is pleased to announce that Steve Kook has been named the full time University of Saskatchewan women's hockey coach.
Kook has been a part time co-coach building a 24-36-9 record since 2004-05.Last season, Kook helped guide the Huskies to their best season since 2002-03 with a 12-9-3 third place finish.He was also named the Canada West women's hockey coach of year, along with co-coach Wayne Grund.
"It is an honour to work alongside the other Huskie coaches," said Kook."Down the Huskie hallway are some of the best coaches in the country.I look forward to the challenge of building upon the successes of the past seasons and establishing a tradition of winning and excellence that Huskie Athletics is accustom to."
Prior to joining the Huskies, Kook was the head coach of the SAIT Women's Hockey Program in Calgary from 2002-04.He also spent two years coaching minor hockey's female division in Calgary and four years doing the same in Saskatoon.He has also coached male hockey at the midget AA ranks.
In 2001, he was co-coach of the gold medal team at the senior women's championship and in 2005 was the under-18 Team Saskatchewan female general manager.
"Steve has had much success with the Huskie program during his three years," said athletic director Bill Seymour.

Kook is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor in Commerce and has worked in the financial industry for 16 years.He is an NCCP Advanced Level 1 certified coach.
He will start his full time position as of August 1.
