Norwich - Athena "Tina" Panteleakos Kocay died Saturday of complications from cancer.
She was born in Brooklyn and raised in Danielson.She married Elwin F. Kocay.He died in 1984.
She was the first and only woman Parish Council president of the Norwich Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, in 1994 and 1995.She was given an Outstanding Leadership Award from the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association and the 2000 Boston Diocesan Laity Award for Outstanding Service.She organized many festivals and dances for the church.
She had been a keypunch operator at New London Mills and Electric Boat.She became data processing manager at John Meyer of Norwich from 1962-72.She served as executive assistant to the director of Howmedica, Pfizer Inc.'s hospital products division.She retired from Pfizer in 1993.
