  Dundar F. Kocaoglu, chairman of the Department of Engineering and Technology, said the program will be most helpful to students who are already working in the field of technology management.Kocaoglu said the new program will strengthen the relationships within the technology community that Portland State already has.

  Dundar Kocaoglu, chair of the department of engineering and technology management at Portland State University in Oregon, said that innovation usually runs into resistance.
  
  "Innovation means change," he said."Change means threat.Companies and organizations have a resistance to threat."This isn't a bad thing, he said, because it strengthens ideas , but it's important to be cognizant of the process, so good ideas aren't killed.
  
  Kocaoglu identified several "stages of resistance" to innovation, starting with a stage in which would-be innovators are ignored or stonewalled.
