Speaker Bio:
Mr. Knudsen earned a BS in Biology with a marine concentration and a minor in Geography with a Geographic Information Systems concentration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Knudsen's more than seven years experience in the GIS field has allowed him mastery of many levels of GIS technology. His expertise includes project management in areas as varied as water and electric utilities and natural resources mapping and management. Among his natural resource projects are field-based GPS delineations of wetlands on the Chesapeake Bay and the creation of Digital Nautical Charts for the National Imagery and Mapping Agency. He is an avid biologist, sailor, boater, and diver. At the Florida Marine Research Institute, Mr. Knudsen manages Oil Spill Technical Support for the state of Florida. His primary responsibility is managing GIS data, applications, and technology training used in oil spill preparedness and response. -
