Consequent upon the determination of the Panel of Arbiters appointed in accordance with the Basis and Plan of Union Presbytery met to unite the congregations of Greyfriars John Knox and North St Andrew and with the URC to establish the Parish Grouping between the Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting, St Marks and Queen St.

Presbytery proceeded into the church where after worship conducted by the Rev Stephen Brown, Fraserburgh URC and a sermon preached by the Very Rev Prof Alan Main, and a narrative of proceedings having been read by the Clerk, the Moderator invited the congregations of Greyfriars John Knox and North St Andrew to indicate their willingness to unite as one congregation and to commit themselves jointly to the worship and mission of the new congregation.
