Barnes Limited in October 1974 as one of the original group hired to form the Mapping Division that later spun off in 2000 to become First Base Solutions.Previously John worked for Lockwood Survey Corporation, now Northway Photomap and Hunting Surveys Limited in London England.John has over 37 years of extensive mapping, sales and marketing experience as well as an in depth knowledge of technology and application development.John has been instrumental in the creation of First Base Solutions and the development of the business model that propagates data licensing and cost sharing to maximize value to the public sector.John received his OLS from the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors in 2000 under the designation of Ontario Land Information Professional.

Not much more was heard of these tapes until the late 1980's when Queensland division member John Knowles borrowed some of the them to produce his "Queensland Steam Sounds" cassette.After his use once again they returned to the Victorian division for care and storage.

Mr. John Knowles is the General Manager of our Mapping and Land Information Services Division and the General Manager of First Base Solutions (FBS) a division of J.D. Barnes Limited.Mr. Knowles obtained the general proficiency "O" and "A" level examinations from the University of London, and was trained in Photogrammetry at Hunting Surveys, London England.Mr. Knowles joined J.D.Barnes Limited in 1974 and received his Ontario Land Information Professional designation in 2000.Mr. Knowles is a member of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors, URISA, GITA, GEAC, CIG, and MISA.

Mr. Knowles manages all photogrammetric and property mapping projects at J.D. Barnes Limited and has provided consulting services to the Inter American Development Bank for the implementation of Digital Mapping and an automated Land Titles, Registry and Appraisals system for the country of Belize.Mr Knowles was instrumental in the implementation of the digital "Soft Copy" mapping systems and Orthophoto mapping services that are now provided.
